MOTUC Nautilor custom action figure by Jin-Saotome
MOTUC Nautilor custom action figure

"The Eternian Oceans have always been dangerous areas to explore but now they've turned deadly with the dreaded Nautilor sailing them. After being transformed by Hordak's magic into a powerful soldier of the sea he took up piracy and raided any ship that crossed his path. Once a being is wrapped up in Nautilor's tentacles their life force can be drained and their strength added to his for a short while making him a force to be reckoned with. Nautilor now searches the Eternian Oceans for Ty-Daal-Ray in hopes of getting his revenge for their last battle that left his vessel crippled and adrift for days, adding insult to his injury."

Here's another custom original character for your Masters of the Universe Classics collection, Nautilor! He was created using a Mer-Man body, Tung Lashor hands, Clawful feet, Octavia tentacles, Dactus head with a new mouth, King Hiss helmet modded with a MU Beetle backpack for the squid top/pirate hat, and a DCU armor piece from a Red Lantern character.

GI Joe Cobra Laboratory Tubes by Jin-Saotome
GI Joe Cobra Laboratory Tubes

It's been a while since I've created any custom GI Joe figures and this week I have something special for you, Cobra Lab Tubes! These tubes light up, not just one color but six. There's also a color-scrolling option. The best thing is these stay the color you choose until you click the button again to switch them. You can choose between always-on: red, green, purple, white, and light blue. Technically there's a yellow selection too but it ends up looking almost like the green selection. These were made using the Dr Dreadful Alien Slime Drink tubes, printed control panel stickers, and various tubing. The bubble effects are different sized epoxy drops adhered inside the tube. I used an LED lighting kit that installs in the bottom with replacable batteries. Whatever color your Cobra Laboratory demands, these lab tubes have you covered.

For kicks I created five different Cobra experiments to go in the tubes, two aliens made from Redakai figures and three Cobra experimental troopers made from various GI Joe/Marvel Universe/Spiderman 3 3/4" fodder parts.

Custom MOTUC Fang-Fist original character by Jin-Saotome
Custom MOTUC Fang-Fist original character
"With the Snake Men army at full force more of the slithery serpents find their way on to the battlefield once again. The vicious Fang-Fist leads his battalion of warriors against He-Man and Teela using his crushing skull bite. Can He-Man's shield take the full force of Fang-Fist's attack? It had better because this Snakeman takes no prisoners, only trophies to add to his collection of skeletal remains!"

Here's another custom original character for your Masters of the Universe Classics collection, Fang-Fist! He was created using a Slush-head body, Snake-crush 200x Skeletor snaked skull, King Hsss arms/legs and Mer-man hands/feet. A cast Snake Man head was given apoxie sculpted skeletal detail as was his wrists.

Diaclone Optimus Prime custom figure by Jin-Saotome
Diaclone Optimus Prime custom figure
The Diaclone toy series were the precursors to Transformers and from them spawned the characters we all know and love with Optimus Prime leading the Autobots. Here I've taken a Combiner Wars Optimus Prime and given him a new Construct-Bots head and paint job reminiscent of the vintage Diaclone Prime. Modding the Combiner torso's head with Crosshair's pistols I was able to turn it into a homage to the Diaclone Ultra Magnus. Now you can add your own limbs to create a brand new Combiner Wars bot!

TMNT Slash NECA style custom figure by Jin-Saotome
TMNT Slash NECA style custom figure
One of the Turtle's most powerful foes, Slash makes his appearance as an NECA style custom Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figure! To create him I used a NECA Leonardo with a Playmates 2015 Slash front/back shell, Apoxie Sculpted face, eyes, and claws along with skin bumps. Wrist blades were sculpted on, spikes added to the pads, and NECA 300 Immortal shoulder armor added. Slash was then given a hard comic lined paint job to perfectly match the NECA comic style turtles and complete his look.

Artists! There's a good chance we're going to lose the rights to our work unless we stop legislation that's being proposed to congress. This has the potential to infect every country in the world. We need your help to stop this as soon as possible! Brad Holland is an expert in this new legislation and explains why artists worldwide will suffer if our current copyright law is replaced by the new proposals.

Orphan Works Roundtable
Conducted by the Small Business Administration
Salmagundi Art Club, New York, NY
Initiated by the Illustrators’ Partnership of America, the Artists Rights Society and the Advertising Photographers of America, and conducted by Tom Sullivan, Director of the Office of Advocacy of the US Small Business Administration. This was the first effort to assess the economic impact of the Orphan Works Acts H.R. 5889 and S. 2913 on creators and small businesses. Seventeen distinguished panelists spoke, all freelance working artists and stakeholders who would be directly impacted by this proposed legislation. Six 3’x4’ exhibit panels demonstrated orphan work infringements.

Jin, I have a question for you: How can I remove model enamel paint from some GI Joes? I want to rescue them from the sticky devil, but I haven't got a clue.

Have you been able to remove that type of paint in your life as customizer?

Thanks for the answer in advance, and keep up the good work! :)

Soak them in 91% alcohol, that usually does the trick. Sometimes it takes a while but you'll be able to use a Q-tip to start removing the paint
