Custom Transformers Prime Hot Rod Figure by Jin-Saotome Custom Transformers Prime Hot Rod Figure by Jin-Saotome
Hot Rod is here once again to take on the Decepticons! I really liked the Vehicon design in bot and alt mode so I went to figure out who else could benefit from it. The base for this custom Transformers Hot Rod is of course a Vehicon with a PCC Skyburst head, scout Dead End hands (they snap right in as does the head) side pipes from a Cybertron Swerve, and spoiler off some non-tf vehicle. Hot Rod was painted with metallic red Testors one coat Lacquer as his base and sealed with their Wet Look one coat lacquer clear which really holds up in terms of durability. I had to drill down the chest window pegs behind his armpits to get it to pop off so I could paint it and change the symbol. Anyone making this custom could alternately paint over the chest window with yellow as it kinda looks like his chest flames too.

Want to own one of my customs like this one? Head on over to my Ebay Auction: [link] this week to see what's available.

Where did you get the things for his arms? also how would Sideswipe's head look in Prime Design? I only asking cause, I finally know how my char will be, I just need to get a Vehicon the right head, and them pipes XD wish I knew where you got them.

Gotta love Hot Rod (Hot Rod, my sister will thump you for calling him Rodimus before Matrix Of Leadership), he was one of my favorites. Awesome job...

True, Hot Rod & Hot Shot do sound like similar names, but it's more the character itself. I grew up with G1 & watched the "Unicron Trilogy" as I've heard it called, & basically Hot Shot is pretty much a cheap copy, same basic idea but when compared, poorer quality. My guess is they tweaked him when they changed the name to something less likely to be used in an adult movie...

This is, honestly, simply amazing. That build and vehicle mode really, really do suit Hot Rod and this would look good on any collectors shelf!

OMG! That is one beautifully designed custom of Roddy! Damnit, I wish I could take it off your hands right now, but... ACK! I'm so low in cash and I live outside the USA... being an Aussie sucks! :cries:

oh, actually, now that I take a second look at this, with that slim waist and thin limbs it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to make vehicon into a fembot like Arcee, Flamewar, maybe even Thunderblast.

the supreme irony of making such a standout flashy character as Hotrod from one of the "mass produced" vehicons is almost as awesome as the figure itself.

Definately better then Hasbro's version, named the WFC character Hot Shot and said they where gonna show his story, POOF Armada/Cybertron homage instead when the figure came out... :XD:
