Hey, woah, I should probably update my journal more often! Just got back from
the Nashville Comic-Con and had a blast! I'm hoping to get a booth there next
year. If that works out you all can drop by and watch me work, I'll have tables
set up where myself and others will be customizing on-site. There's not a ton
more I have to update in the Journal here other than asking you to check out
my most recent deviations to see the newest customs I've created and head
on over to my website www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.c… for other
goodies like guides, tutorials, and product links!

Facebook l Toy Review Blog l Twitter l Website l Customs for sale l Guides l Gallery

Hey everyone! I'd just like to take a moment to let you know about an Ebay charity action I'm holding for my custom 7" Gipsy Danger action figure from Pacific Rim. 100% of the proceeds go towards the Special Olympics, an organization that helps enrich the lives of individuals with mental disability through activities and sports. Not only will you be helping the Special Olympics' awesome cause but you'll be getting a one-of-a-kind customized action figure! Gipsy's articulation has been completely modified so he's super articulated and now comes with magnetic removable chain swords, plasma caster hand, and the ELBOW ROCKET attachment, all of which let you recreate the fights against the fearsome Kaiju just as you saw on the big screen. Gipsy Danger has also been hand painted with micro panel lining from the movie stills, armor shading, complete edge highlighting, and a multitude of weathering effects that give him a movie prop appearance.

If you'd liked to place a bid and help out the Special Olympics and win a super detailed one-of-a-kind action figure then head here! www.ebay.com/itm/321184357101

Thanks and good luck!

THE COLLECTION MUST GO! You know when your collecting hobby overshadows your creative hobby, it's time to get rid of some stuff. In this case, all of it. For the last few years I've been lugging around boxes upon boxes of unopened action figures, busts, statues, and bookshelves of loose figures. Not to chop up to customize with, just what I've collected to 'keep for later' over the course of my hobby. These range from Final Fantasy Play Arts, halo, Marvel legends, DC Universe, Figma, Transformers, SOTA Street Fighter, imports, pvc/gashapon, NECA, honestly if it's a line that came out in the last 10 years I have it. But now I'm selling my Secret Collection here on ebay---> rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532… <--- because it's silly packing it all up and taking up a third of a Uhaul every time my wife and I move to a new place or area. So if you want new, loose, and rare stuff, head on over to that link and prepare to be bombarded with everything. I'm not quitting customizing...oh no. I still have 50 bins of parts, paints, tools, and will be continuing that. But for the next month or so I'll be selling all the clutter that's been collecting dust. You know, one to keep/one to open? That was me. Now I pass it on to you to complete your collections!

Journal time! What's up? What's new? Well it's 2013 and I have a brand new background for my customs. It allows for brighter colors and less glare with the new set up and works with all colors...well providing I don't make a tan-stone-colored custom. But unlike my black fabric background a figure wearing black won't disappear!

Also you know how we need clear colored paint more than the primary red, blue, yellow, etc that Tamiya and Testors has? Well I found the answer, acrylic Suncatcher paints! They sell them in sets at Walmart for $2.50 and have pink, purple, even black and neons. They dry to a super hard finish and work on all the plastics I've tried them on without making them sticky. The only downside is it takes about 3 hours to fully cure. But for energy effects they're FANTASTIC! Just take a look at my most recent Gambit custom. I'll check Michaels crafts and see if they have those colors in a bigger volume, clear purple/pink is used in a lot of X-men customs.

I don't understand it. We protect our President, financial institutions, movie stars, and military installations with armed guards wielding powerful guns. But not our children? The future of our country is left defenseless in "gun free zones" so clearly marked it's like an open buffet for psychopaths?

Then I watch these sick twisted, liberal types like NY mayor Bloomberg wanting to TAKE AWAY gun from good, honest people and allow criminals to have their run of illegal weapons, able to kill anyone, anywhere without opposition. It blows my mind. I mean with this kind of mentality our children have never been in so much danger than right now.

How will we as a nation, survive when our children are left unprotected and exposed to the sick minds who are told they are defenseless? When the news tells the criminals "Hey, we just passed new gun restrictions and took weapons away from your victims. Have at it guys! They're like sitting ducks!" It's like I'm living an episode of the Twilight Zone and can't wake up from it.

Please, someone, somewhere arm our teachers, school staff, and protect our children!

Another Update

I figured fall deserves a new skin so here we are with a very cool looking journal skin. I really don't update these very often and apologize about that. You know I create custom action figures and where to find them. (check the links at the top of this journal if you didn't!) But in the rare instance I think of something that needs a general view I'll post it in a journal entry, it just doesn't happen that often. Happy Halloween!

My heart goes out to the victims

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 20, 2012, 9:57 AM
My heart goes out to everyone, victims, family members who have lost a loved one, and those shocked around the world at the terrible shooting that occurred in Colorado during the midnight showing of Batman TDKR. I also can't imagine how the young lady who survived the mall shooting one month earlier must have felt just to be struck down there. It's like you just can't win sometimes. She and the rest of the victims are up in heaven waiting to reunite with their family.

Thanks and wish me luck! I have 400+ customs to move and create brand new pages for. Massive undertaking.

The 5-minute toy review blog

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 17, 2011, 11:53 AM
When I'm not customizing figures I'm reviewing action figures. Marvel Legends, Transformers, imports, independent, whatever I think is cool. It'll take you about five minutes to read and there's of course pictures. NO VIDEOS HERE. You won't see me hamhand figures while talking about their packaging for ten minutes straight. You get the facts about the paint, sculpt, articulation, any flaws, and where you can buy them. That's it!

OMG WHAT'S FOR SALE?!?

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 9, 2011, 1:11 PM
Lately I've been asked quite often if I'm selling my customs. The answer is yes...and no. Yes I sell my customs but if you don't catch them in my weekly auctions then they're already sold and no I don't have them anymore. I don't keep any of my customs for myself save for a select few. I also don't take commissions, I only make what I like or am interested in at the time. Every Sunday I auction the custom figures I've finished that week up on Ebay. You can see what's currently up for auction by visiting my site www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.com and scrolling down a bit.

I start all my auctions at one penny because I can't guess what my work is worth to you. It would be rude of me to assume my work is X-dollar-value in your eyes and charge you that. And that's where the ebay auction come in, it allows you to decide how much the effort and time I put into my customs is worth. $5 or $500, I let the people out there set the market value on my pieces. So drop by my site some time if you're interested in owning what you see pop up here each week. Laters!

HAPPY NEW YEARS! 2011 huh...

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 1, 2011, 11:42 PM
Look at the date, LOOK AT IT. "2011" it looks all futuristic and stuff. I feel it in my bones, this is the year we get flying cars and moon bases! I mean come on, 2001 a Space Odyssey had us living in space. Then there was 2010, we had a brand new star and a new Earth. Uh...what the heck happened? We're still burning fossil fuels and shooting at each other with combustion-powered projectiles.

But now isn't the time for whining about where we should be or airing political stuffs. Nope, it's the new year! 2011 sounds so cool and I'm looking forward to it! And you should be looking forward to...more custom action figures by yours truly. See you in the future! Er, present!

So you want to own something of mine?

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 6, 2010, 6:14 PM
While I wish I could take commissions it's virtually impossible right now to do so. I'm in the middle of a lot of projects and there would be a waiting list of more than 200 people if I were to make good on everyone who's asked me currently. So you'd end up waiting, hmmm, over 2 years for me to get to you? Yeah, that kinda sucks. But my customs are for sale! To make it fair for everyone to have a chance I put them up on ebay here: shop.ebay.com/jin-saotome/m.ht…

That way I don't play favorites, picking and choosing who I make a custom for. Also you won't be shocked by my initial commission price. People can pay whatever they think the figure is worth. No deadlines for me, yay! If you like what you see, bid away, or wait next week until something new comes up. I know it sucks I can't take commissions, this is the only way I can offer my customs up right now.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 12, 2010, 8:52 AM
It was a long haul, a trip across the nation for me. From the Mojave desert in California to Nashville Tennessee! But here I am in the land of country singers ready to rock and roll...and it's custom time! Yep, with my design space all set up I'm making customs once again. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone here for their kind words and support as the month+ move happened. Also thank you for some awesome art to look at as I was unpacking! I know I haven't been around here because of the whole moving and that's about to change. I'll be sharing new customs, comments, and journals now. Also my regularly scheduled Ebay auctions will resume! You can always find them by heading to my site, www.jincustom.com and each week I'll have something new to offer. So thanks for being there and it's great to be back here!

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS....

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 14, 2010, 1:54 AM
Oooh, a new journal skin! And zombies? I have to try this out. So, updates? Here? Sure. This week I have a Luke Cage marvel Legends custom figure and Chris Redfield from RE1 custom figure. Hah, zombie themed figure and journal skin at the same time!

I know a lot of people already know but if you're looking for customizing info, guides/tutorials, links to all the figure forums, links to customizing/paint/toy supplies, hit up my site www.jincustom.com because you'll find it all there. Also the links to snag my customs in weekly ebay auctions. Luke and Chris are up this week (well if you're reading this before April 18th) and that's the only way to snag them.

Hey! it seems April 19th is the talked about street date for the 6" Iron Man 2 Walmart Exclusive figures. The assortment has War Machine, Mark VI Iron Man, and Mark V 'suitcase' Iron Man. They all come with TWO sets of alternate hands and awesome articulation/sculpting. Yes, these are Marvel Legends scale, but only available at Walmart so keep your eyes peeled for endcap/middle aisle stands with them like most exclusives have.

Toys R Us has a buy one, get one 50% off any Nerf products! Get two Marauder nerf swords for $30 instead of $40 and swing away....swing away...

Do not collect $200. Please pay $1000 in fines should you as Americans decide not to purchase health care or cannot afford it. Please find yourself in jail along with your family should you not be able pay the fine associated.

Sound scary? Farfetched? If the bill isn't repealed be prepared for it to be a reality. The lower class and poor will find themselves on the end of a neverending string of fines and/or jail time. Our jails and prisons are already at maximum capacity so the question will be where to house all these 'dangerous new criminals' made up of men, women, and children. Perhaps...some sort of camps? I'm sure the democrats could flip a few pages through the history books and do a little research on previous 'camps' for detainees and undesirables in society.

Or maybe a private company will spring up at the government's request and help with the 'rounding up' of the unwilling/poor. What will happen to them? Oh, they'll lose everything they own, their families will be split up, children taken while they sit in jail, get released, can't pay fines, go back to jail, etc. Until perhaps they disappear into the system.

But hey, it's all in the nation's best interest right? Health care for everyone! Well, so long as you can afford it. If not you can always find a new calling as a little green wafer...
