Hey, hello there! It's been a while since I've used DeviantArt. Almost two years have passed and I have...um....24k notifications sitting in my inbox. There wasn't one specific reason I stopped using DA to be truthful, just a lot of little things that caused me to be disinterested in the overall experience here. One was the constant "you can't do that without a premium membership" and another was the constant complaining by artists here. Yeah, the artists, not the critiquers. I also decided I didn't want to be known as "That guy with a DeviantArt page" as it was beginning to be a stigmata with that kind of attention foisted upon users. There's a lot of...eh, "questionable" art that gets uploaded here and being associated with DA was almost as bad as being associated with Tumblr.

However I'm told that many people find my work exclusively through google searches which links them here, then they ask me why I only update my site and post to forums or Instagram. Well, ok, I'll try DA again for a while and see how that goes. It's update time!

Hey, woah, I should probably update my journal more often! Just got back from
the Nashville Comic-Con and had a blast! I'm hoping to get a booth there next
year. If that works out you all can drop by and watch me work, I'll have tables
set up where myself and others will be customizing on-site. There's not a ton
more I have to update in the Journal here other than asking you to check out
my most recent deviations to see the newest customs I've created and head
on over to my website www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.c… for other
goodies like guides, tutorials, and product links!

Hey everyone! I'd just like to take a moment to let you know about an Ebay charity action I'm holding for my custom 7" Gipsy Danger action figure from Pacific Rim. 100% of the proceeds go towards the Special Olympics, an organization that helps enrich the lives of individuals with mental disability through activities and sports. Not only will you be helping the Special Olympics' awesome cause but you'll be getting a one-of-a-kind customized action figure! Gipsy's articulation has been completely modified so he's super articulated and now comes with magnetic removable chain swords, plasma caster hand, and the ELBOW ROCKET attachment, all of which let you recreate the fights against the fearsome Kaiju just as you saw on the big screen. Gipsy Danger has also been hand painted with micro panel lining from the movie stills, armor shading, complete edge highlighting, and a multitude of weathering effects that give him a movie prop appearance.

If you'd liked to place a bid and help out the Special Olympics and win a super detailed one-of-a-kind action figure then head here! www.ebay.com/itm/321184357101

Thanks and good luck!

THE COLLECTION MUST GO! You know when your collecting hobby overshadows your creative hobby, it's time to get rid of some stuff. In this case, all of it. For the last few years I've been lugging around boxes upon boxes of unopened action figures, busts, statues, and bookshelves of loose figures. Not to chop up to customize with, just what I've collected to 'keep for later' over the course of my hobby. These range from Final Fantasy Play Arts, halo, Marvel legends, DC Universe, Figma, Transformers, SOTA Street Fighter, imports, pvc/gashapon, NECA, honestly if it's a line that came out in the last 10 years I have it. But now I'm selling my Secret Collection here on ebay---> rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-532… <--- because it's silly packing it all up and taking up a third of a Uhaul every time my wife and I move to a new place or area. So if you want new, loose, and rare stuff, head on over to that link and prepare to be bombarded with everything. I'm not quitting customizing...oh no. I still have 50 bins of parts, paints, tools, and will be continuing that. But for the next month or so I'll be selling all the clutter that's been collecting dust. You know, one to keep/one to open? That was me. Now I pass it on to you to complete your collections!

Journal time! What's up? What's new? Well it's 2013 and I have a brand new background for my customs. It allows for brighter colors and less glare with the new set up and works with all colors...well providing I don't make a tan-stone-colored custom. But unlike my black fabric background a figure wearing black won't disappear!

Also you know how we need clear colored paint more than the primary red, blue, yellow, etc that Tamiya and Testors has? Well I found the answer, acrylic Suncatcher paints! They sell them in sets at Walmart for $2.50 and have pink, purple, even black and neons. They dry to a super hard finish and work on all the plastics I've tried them on without making them sticky. The only downside is it takes about 3 hours to fully cure. But for energy effects they're FANTASTIC! Just take a look at my most recent Gambit custom. I'll check Michaels crafts and see if they have those colors in a bigger volume, clear purple/pink is used in a lot of X-men customs.
